Konstanz
Prototype innovation lab and primary EU incubation node
synopsis
Konstanz is the initial prototype node in the kask innovation network — the first physical lab and incubation space where kask projects move from concept to working prototype. Located in Konstanz, Germany, at the convergence of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on the shores of Lake Constance (Bodensee), the lab serves as the foundational template for how kask establishes and operates innovation spaces. Every process, partnership pattern, and operational model developed here is designed to be replicated as the network expands.
The Konstanz node benefits from the city's concentrated research ecosystem — the University of Konstanz (an Excellence University) with its FabLab and Knowledge & Technology Transfer office, the HTWG Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, the Kilometer1 startup programme, and nearby institutions like the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior. This density of interdisciplinary research talent in a compact lakeside city creates ideal conditions for the kind of rapid, cross-domain prototyping kask's projects demand. As the first node, Konstanz is where the operational playbook for the entire innovation network is being written.
